BETTY ALDEN *A Story of the Pilgrims* by Jane G. Austin. On
the frontis: Betty Alden, The First-Born Daughter of the Pilgrims by Jane
G. Austin; Boston and New York; Houghton, Mifflin and Company; The Riverside
Press, Cambridge 1898. 384 pp. Quite nice condition. HB, the
cover is done in shades of brown, binding intact, illustration titled "The
Captain's Hill". From the Preface: .... her story will be found
threaded through that of her people and her times in that modest subordination
to which the lives of her sex were trained in that day. As one interested
in New England, as well as American history, I found this quite worth
reading. In any case, she was Elizabeth, daughter of John and Priscilla
Alden, wife of William Pabodie. $5

PERSONAL MEMOIRS OF U.S. GRANT This is the two volume set, written by the President, in the time shortly before his death, in the hopes that he would leave his wife some income. Frontis a very nice engraving of Grant with facsimile signature; this two volume work dated 1886 and done by Charles L. Webster & Co. New York. Please inquire......

1972, states "First Edition" and published by Harper & Row.
This book, titled "To Me It's Wonderful" is a biography of Ethel
Waters, and, from the inside front of the dj ""joyous autobiography of
how she found her way back home to Jesus after so many years in a spiritual
desert". Many pictures in this 162 page book. She tells of much
of her life and especially 1957, "a very special year in her spiritual
calendar, Miss Waters came home to Jesus through Billy Graham and his
Team. Always and forever a unique woman, Ethel Waters tells of her new
life with wit, honesty and love lacing every page". As seen in scan
